PlanejeThe Piódão Trail Running returns on April 11, 2026, for its 14th edition, starting in the historic village of Piódão, in the Arganil region. One of Portugal’s most iconic trail races, it features four distances: Ultra Trail (54 km), Long Trail (25 km), Short Trail (13 km), and a 13 km Walk.
The routes cross mountains, streams, and valleys in the heart of central Portugal — offering a mix of endurance, beauty, and tradition in a truly unique setting.
The Farol Adventure Trail – Flores Azores (FAT) returns on 25 April 2026, offering runners an unforgettable journey across the dramatic landscapes of Flores Island, Azores. Starting from the iconic Farol do Albarnaz and finishing at Farol da Ponta das Lajes, the event showcases lush valleys, coastal cliffs, volcanic formations, and waterfalls such as Poço do Bacalhau and Poço do Ferreiro.
This is more than a race—it’s an immersion into the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, passing through all parishes in the municipality of Lajes das Flores. Certified by the Associação de Trail Running de Portugal (ATRP), FAT is part of the National Trail Circuit, attracting both competitive trail athletes and nature enthusiasts.
Distances cater to different levels:
FAT36 – 36 km long trail (National Circuit Series 150)
FAT18 – 18 km sprint trail (National Sprint Circuit Series 150 + Youth Circuit)
FAT09 – 9 km short trail
FAT09c – 9 km walk (non-competitive)
With a friendly and community-driven atmosphere, the FAT blends elite competition with local hospitality, making it one of the most scenic and unique trail experiences in Portugal.
The Ultra Trail do Marão 2026 (UTM 2026) returns from March 26 to 29, 2026, set in the dramatic terrain of Serra do Marão, with its headquarters in Amarante, Portugal. This iconic mountain trail running event is known for its rugged beauty, technical challenges, and warm local atmosphere.
UTM 2026 offers six trail distances to suit all profiles — from elite mountain runners to beginner trail enthusiasts:
120 km (UTM 120)
60 km (UTM 60)
40 km (UTM 40)
25 km (UTM 25)
15 km (UTM 15)
6 km (UTM 6)
Each race immerses athletes in a pristine natural environment with forests, rivers, ancient paths, and dramatic climbs, making it one of Portugal’s most scenic and demanding trail events. It’s open to all, with some races requiring previous mountain experience.
