TAVIRA GRANFONDO
The Tavira Granfondo is a non-competitive cycling event that will take place on September 28, 2025, in Tavira, Portugal. Designed to be inclusive and accessible to all cycling enthusiasts, it features three distances: Granfondo (approx. 135 km), Mediofondo (approx. 95 km), and Minifondo (approx. 55 km). Participants must be at least 19 years old for the Granfondo and 17 for the Mediofondo and Minifondo. The event is organized as a leisure ride on open public roads and complies with the Portuguese Cycling Federation's guidelines for “Provas Abertas” (Open Races), as well as the national traffic code. It highlights Tavira’s scenic beauty and cultural richness, making it a blend of sport, tourism, and local tradition. Although not competitive, electronic chip timing and rankings will be used. Trophies will be awarded in several individual and team categories, including special awards for paracycling.
The event starts and finishes at Avenida Zeca Afonso in Tavira. After an initial controlled 3 km segment, participants proceed at free pace. All riders are required to wear an approved helmet and follow traffic laws at all times. Participants may use road bikes, mountain bikes, tandem, or hand bikes, but electric bikes are not permitted. The organization provides a welcoming environment, technical support, mechanical aid, aid stations, and a post-race lunch.
