The VIANA Granfondo 2026 is a premier amateur road cycling challenge held in the scenic coastal city of Viana do Castelo, Portugal, on March 15, 2026. Open to riders of all levels (minimum age 15), the event offers three race distances:
Granfondo – 130 km
Mediofondo – 80 km
Minifondo – 60 km
Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or newer to endurance rides, you'll find a route that suits your ambition. Riders can use road, MTB, or tandem bikes—e-bikes are not allowed.
The VIANA Granfondo is organized under the rules of the Portuguese Cycling Federation, with full respect for road safety regulations. The atmosphere combines competitive spirit with festive camaraderie, drawing up to 1,500 participants from Portugal and abroad. With categories by age and gender, plus trophies and team prizes, it's a true celebration of cycling culture on the Atlantic coast.
The 7th edition of Ride Across Portugal® takes place from May 10 to 17, 2026, offering an unforgettable 7-day road cycling adventure through the heart of Portugal. This exclusive stage event covers 770 km over 6 stages, showcasing the country’s diverse landscapes — from the northern mountains to the southern coastline.
Combining sport, culture, and hospitality, the event attracts passionate cyclists from around the world. With first-class logistics, premium accommodation, and on-road support, Ride Across Portugal® is a non-competitive but timed experience ideal for serious amateur riders looking for a truly premium cycling journey.

🏔️ Stage 1 – The Mountains and the Douro River
📍 Douro – Guarda | 119KM | 2230m D+
Begins on the world-famous N222 road through the scenic Douro Valley, ending in Guarda, the highest city in Portugal.
🗻 Stage 2 – Conquering the Highest Point in Mainland Portugal
📍 Guarda – Covilhã | 107KM | 2550m D+
Climbs to Alto da Torre (1,993m), the highest point on mainland Portugal, followed by a stunning descent into Covilhã.
🌄 Stage 3 – From the Mountains to the Lowlands
📍 Covilhã – Alter do Chão | 165KM | 1730m D+
Crosses into the Alentejo through scenic hills and the majestic Tagus River at Portas do Rodão. Ends at the historic Royal Stud Farm.
🍷 Stage 4 – Alentejo, the Portuguese Tuscany
📍 Alter do Chão – Évora | 96KM | 800m D+
A cultural ride through cork oak-lined roads and wheat fields, ending in the UNESCO city of Évora.
🔥 Stage 5 – The Super Stage
📍 Évora – Monchique | 193KM | 1840m D+
The longest and one of the most epic stages. Finishes with the climb to Monchique, entering the Algarve mountains.

📍 Monchique – Porches | 57KM | 560m D+
A celebratory stage with coastal views and a finish at the cliffside Chapel of Senhora da Rocha — the perfect end to this unforgettable journey.
The Granfondo Serra da Estrela returns for its 11th edition on June 28, 2026, offering one of the most breathtaking cycling adventures in Portugal. Starting and finishing in Seia, this is a non-competitive cycling event that captures the essence of endurance, passion, and natural beauty.
Participants can choose between the Granfondo and Mediofondo distances, each featuring chip-timed segments that reward consistency and effort, not speed. The challenge? Climbing into the heart of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, Portugal’s highest mountain range. 🌲⛰️
Open to all riders aged 17 and up — whether federated or not — the event is run under UCI and Portuguese Federation Open Race rules. Expect a powerful mix of personal challenge, camaraderie, and the unforgettable experience of riding through pristine alpine terrain.
