On August 23, 2025, at 15:00, the town of Nafarros (Sintra) will host the 62nd edition of its historic road cycling race, the Circuito de Nafarros. Organized by UDC Nafarros in partnership with Benepaint and with the technical oversight of the Associação de Ciclismo de Lisboa, this official federated race (FPC) is open to Elite 1.12 and 1.13 riders and U23 athletes, with limited wildcards available for invited teams outside these categories.
The race consists of 8 laps of a 9.3 km circuit, totaling 74.5 km of tight, technical, and scenic competition in the heart of Nafarros. Known for its tradition and strong local support, the Circuito de Nafarros also features special jerseys for general classification, mountain, sprint, and fastest lap – all contributing to a vibrant and competitive race atmosphere at the height of summer.
The 7th Edition of the Corrida e Marcha Passeio de São João da Degola takes place on 24 August 2025 in Vila Real de Santo António, Portugal, starting and finishing at Largo São João da Degola, Manta Rota. Integrated into the celebrations of São João da Degola, this event offers a 10 km run and a 7 km walk, both featuring a scenic out‑and‑back route along boardwalks, dirt tracks, asphalt, and sandy stretches by the coastline. The 2nd Cross Trail Campos do Lis will be held on 24 August 2025 in Vieira de Leiria, starting and finishing at the Albano Tomé Feteira Stadium. Organized by Industrial Desportivo Vieirense and part of the ADAL Sprint Trail Circuit, this event includes a 16 km Cross Trail, 10 km Mini Trail, and a 10 km Walk. Designed for runners of all levels, the route features easy difficulty, marked trails, and a supportive safety structure. On August 24, 2025, at 16:00, the charming bay of São Martinho do Porto will host the 16th edition of its iconic open water swim. Organized by the Clube Náutico de São Martinho do Porto, this non-competitive, demonstration event invites swimmers aged 14 and up to cross the bay in a scenic 1,500-meter swim that blends sport, community spirit, and coastal beauty. While open to all, even registered swimmers from the Portuguese Swimming Federation may participate—so long as they don’t do so in their federated capacity.
The event draws swimmers of all ages and abilities, along with a parallel Kids and Mini Kids race for younger athletes (ages 6–13), making it a family-friendly celebration of swimming. With support from local institutions, lifeguards, volunteers, and nautical teams, this is a safe, joyful, and memorable summer challenge in one of Portugal’s most picturesque coastal towns.
The 19th Volta a Portugal de Juniores will take place from August 28 to 31, 2025, bringing together the strongest U19 cycling teams from across the country. The 10th edition of the Vertical Kilometer of Câmara de Lobos will take place on August 30, 2025, in Curral das Freiras, Madeira. This demanding skyrunning race features a steep 2.8 km course with 1,000 meters of positive elevation gain, from Colmeal (630 m) to Pico Grande (1,630 m).
Part of multiple competitive series — including the National Skyrunning Championship, National Youth and Club Championships, Madeira Regional Skyrunning Cup, and the Skyrunner® Portugal Series — this event attracts both elite and amateur vertical specialists.

The I Aquatlo Merelim São Paio and III Aquatlo Jovem Merelim São Paio take place on August 30, 2025, in Braga, Portugal. These aquathlon events combine swimming and running along the scenic Rio Cávado, featuring races for both adults and youth athletes.
The adult competition is held in sprint format and includes the Northern Absolute and Individual Championships. The youth event, part of the Northern Youth Championship, offers age-appropriate distances for children born between 2008 and 2018. Both races are organized by the local parish union with technical support from the Portuguese Triathlon Federation.

The first edition of the Eco Run Cabeço de Vide – Fronteira will take place on August 30, 2025, combining night racing, nature, and history. The event is organized by Escola de Atletismo PTG-Associação, Atlético Clube Fronteirense, and the Municipality of Fronteira, with technical support from AADP.

The Matosinhos Urban Race 2025 takes place on August 30, 2025, in the heart of Matosinhos, Portugal, offering a unique 3-hour urban cycling challenge on a closed-loop course of approximately 3.5 km. Participants will aim to complete as many laps as possible within the designated time.
