Event summary

The DHI KGM Cup 2025, presented by Dionísio Carreiro Almeida, is an officially sanctioned downhill mountain biking (DHI) series held in the Azores and organized by local cycling clubs in partnership with the Azores Cycling Association (ACA). The series includes five adrenaline-filled races, welcoming both licensed and non-licensed riders, starting at age 11 across multiple male and female categories, including Youth, Elite, Masters, and Open classes.

With steep terrain, island trails, and a strong local community, this cup combines competitive intensity with natural beauty. Each event features one qualifying run and one final run, with the fastest final time determining the winner. The DHI KGM Cup is designed to promote regional talent while maintaining top standards of safety and sporting integrity, making it one of Portugal's standout DHI series.

Information

Race Format:
• Each event is held over two days
 • Day 1: Track building + foot reconnaissance
 • Day 2:
  • Morning: Official training + Qualifying run
  • Afternoon: Final run
 • Single-run format (best time in Final determines the result)

Qualifying Run:
• Mandatory for all athletes
• Determines start order for Final (reverse order by time)

Final Run:
• Official race result is based solely on Final
• Points awarded for both Qualifying and Final runs
• In case the Final cannot be held, results are based on Qualifying only

Start Blocks (by category):
Block 1: Youth, Ladies Ride, Open Men, U17 Women, Elite Women, U17 Men, Masters
Block 2: U19 and U23/Elite Men

Entry Requirements:
• Open to riders 11+ (born 2014 or earlier for Youth)
Federated riders must have a current UCI license
Open class requires a daily license via FPC (for riders from other disciplines or without a license)

Registration:
• Online at www.aca.pt
• Deadline: Thursday before race, 23:59
• Late entries incur a €30 penalty
• Open riders who do not show up must still pay the full fee

Entry Fees:
• Licensed riders: €15
• Open class: €80
• Youth (ACA schools): Free
• Replacement number plate: €10

Number Plates / Bibs:
• Assigned per category with color coding (e.g., Elite: white, Masters: blue, Open: purple)
• Must be used consistently through all races in the series

🏆 Trophies & Rankings:
• Top 3 riders in each category per race receive trophies
General Individual Ranking based on points from all 5 races
Team Ranking per race (based on best 3 riders across categories)
• Special awards and overall Champion Trophy per category at end of season
• No general ranking for Youth (U11–U14)

🛡️ Safety & Protection Rules (Mandatory):
• Full-face helmet with visor
• Rigid protection: back, knees, elbows
• Long pants or resistant shorts with knee guards
• Long-sleeve jersey and full gloves
• Strongly recommended: neck, thigh, and shoulder protection
• Riders without mandatory protection will be disqualified
Lycra kits are strictly prohibited

🚫 Other Regulations:
• No action cams allowed during official runs
• Non-compliance results in disqualification

🏅 Podium Protocol:
• Mandatory for Top 3 riders and Top 3 teams
• Missing the podium forfeits points unless excused
• Athletes must wear official team apparel (no flip-flops)

The series features 7 official races and a final gala, open to licensed and non-licensed athletes aged 15 to 70 across competitive and promotional categories. Each stage is hosted in Vila do Conde and offers high-level cross-country racing in a controlled environment that encourages inclusiveness and youth development. The event includes full UCI-style categories from U17 to Masters D, as well as an E-Bike class and balance bike demonstrations for young children. The competition fosters local and regional engagement while honoring top athletes with classification jerseys, trophies, and public podium ceremonies.

    Troféu Inter Regional - ACBL - PORTO

    The Interregional XCO Trophy 2025 brings together Portugal’s northern and central regions in a competitive cross-country Olympic (XCO) mountain biking series, co-organized by the Beira Litoral Cycling Association (ACBL) and the Porto Cycling Association (ACPorto), under the sanction of the Portuguese Cycling Federation (UVP-FPC). The series consists of six races, split equally between both regions, and is open to federated athletes and CPT license holders (Open class), beginning at age 15. Each event awards individual and team points toward the Interregional ranking, and the final standings are based on the four best race results. The trophy emphasizes fair play, technical challenge, and wide regional participation across categories—from U17 to Masters and Para-cyclists. The final race of the calendar includes the official trophy ceremony and overall awards.
