MIUT® – Madeira Island Ultra-Trail® 2026 is one of Europe’s most iconic trail running events, taking place from April 22 to April 26, 2026, on Madeira Island, Portugal. Organized by the Clube de Montanha do Funchal, the event crosses the island from coast to coast, showcasing Madeira’s dramatic mountains, forests, levadas, and volcanic landscapes.

The event features five single-stage, non-stop races, all run on linear courses:

  • MIUT LEGEND – 110 km

  • MIUT ADVANCED – 80 km

  • MIUT DISCOVER – 56 km

  • MIUT MARATHON – 40 km

  • MIUT STARTER – 17 km

With approximately 3,500 participants across all distances, MIUT® combines elite competition with amateur participation, maintaining a strong focus on self-sufficiency, safety, environmental respect, and fair play. The race is internationally recognized and requires ITRA points for the longer distances, reinforcing its status as a high-level trail running challenge.

  • MIUT LEGEND: 110 km | +7,200 m | Max time: 32 h

  • MIUT ADVANCED: 80 km | +4,760 m | Max time: 25 h

  • MIUT DISCOVER: 56 km | +2,800 m | Max time: 15 h

  • MIUT MARATHON: 40 km | +1,450 m | Max time: 11 h

  • MIUT STARTER: 17 km | +510 m | Max time: 3 h 30

Minimum age (as of Dec 31, 2026):

  • MIUT STARTER: 18 years

  • All other races: 20 years

Course type: Trails, mountain paths, footpaths, levadas, forest roads, with small asphalt sections
Race format: Linear, non-stop, single-stage races with time cut-offs

Timing:
⏱️ Electronic chip timing (bib + backpack tag) with control points and checkpoints

Aid stations:
🥤 Food and drinks provided for on-site consumption
💧 Only water available for refilling hydration systems
🩺 Medical teams present at all aid stations

Mandatory gear:
Includes race bib, backpack, minimum 1L water capacity, thermal blanket, waterproof jacket, whistle, mobile phone, cup, headlamp(s), reserve food, ID, and other safety items depending on the race distance. Gear checks may occur before, during, and after the race.

Registrations:

  • Opening between October 27 and October 31, 2025, depending on race

  • 90% direct registration + 10% lottery (for sold-out races)

  • Waiting list active until March 15, 2026

Insurance:

💡 Participants are advised to hold personal trail running insurance

    Farol Adventure Trail

    The Farol Adventure Trail – Flores Azores (FAT) returns on 25 April 2026, offering runners an unforgettable journey across the dramatic landscapes of Flores Island, Azores. Starting from the iconic Farol do Albarnaz and finishing at Farol da Ponta das Lajes, the event showcases lush valleys, coastal cliffs, volcanic formations, and waterfalls such as Poço do Bacalhau and Poço do Ferreiro.

    This is more than a race—it’s an immersion into the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, passing through all parishes in the municipality of Lajes das Flores. Certified by the Associação de Trail Running de Portugal (ATRP), FAT is part of the National Trail Circuit, attracting both competitive trail athletes and nature enthusiasts.

    Distances cater to different levels:

    FAT36 – 36 km long trail (National Circuit Series 150)

    FAT18 – 18 km sprint trail (National Sprint Circuit Series 150 + Youth Circuit)

  • Health + Solidarity Race

    Health + Solidarity Race

    The XIII Corrida Saúde+Solidária is a running event organized by the Associação de Estudantes da Faculdade de Medicina de Lisboa (AEFML) with technical support from Xistarca, taking place on April 26, 2026, at the Estádio Universitário de Lisboa. The event features three races: a 400m kids race, a 5km walk/run, and a 10km run.

    The 10km and 5km races start at 10:00 and 10:05 respectively, with the kids race beginning at 9:30. The 10km race is open to participants born in 2008 or earlier, the 5km walk/run is open to all born in 2015 or earlier (with younger children allowed if accompanied by a guardian), and the kids race is for children born between 2014 and 2022.
