Event summary
The Vila Wild Trail, now in its 3rd edition, is a scenic and challenging trail event held in the medieval village of Vilar Maior (Sabugal, Portugal) on October 26, 2025. Set around the iconic Vilar Maior Castle, this event offers a unique fusion of natural beauty, historical surroundings, and technical trail running.
Part of the 5 Quinas – 6 Trails | 1 Challenge circuit, this race contributes to the overall standings of the regional championship promoted by the Sabugal Municipality.
Event Highlights:
🏃♂️ Trail types: Trail Long (24 km), Trail Short (14 km), Mini Trail (9 km), and a non-competitive hiking route.
🏰 Start/Finish: All races begin and end at Vilar Maior Castle, creating an epic atmosphere.
👟 Open to all: From beginners (Mini Trail, Hiking) to seasoned trail runners.
🌿 Scenic routes: Riverbanks, granite outcrops, native forests, and elevation challenges.
🏅 Also features a children’s trail (ages 3–8) inside the castle grounds.
