Maroiço Up Hill | Mountain Running CR
The Maroiço Up Hill is a mountain running race held on February 15, 2026, organized by Clube de Atletismo de Fafe with support from Associação de Atletismo de Braga and Federação Portuguesa de Atletismo. The event features two main races: the Up Hill, a 6 km race with 500 m positive elevation gain, and the Maroiço Up and Down, a 15 km race with 550 m positive elevation gain.
The competition is open to licensed athletes, including categories from Sub-23 to Senior, and is part of the Campeonato Regional de Corrida de Montanha AAB and the 1st stage of the Portuguese Cup (Taça de Portugal) organized by FPA. The courses traverse scenic mountain trails around Barragem da Queimadela and Alto do Maroiço, offering challenging climbs and descents surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes.
The atmosphere is competitive and organized with a focus on mountain trail running discipline. Awards are given by age group and gender, including team prizes on the longer race. Transportation is provided for athletes from the finish back to the start area, ensuring smooth logistics for participants.
